a Parisian dawn
May 16, 2023
Birds chatter amongst themselves in the trees above me and two girls chatter to each other beside me. The sun rises and gradually my bare legs begin to warm, the soft light massaging life into them. The girls are artists, well in my eyes at least. One purposelessly clutches a hairbrush while the other delicately holds a paintbrush, capturing the unfolding dawn with a subtle eye and gentle strokes.
The minutes pass on by and the city begins to wake up. Where there were once just bird song and the melody that is French, now cars rumble along and the metro startles to life as the Parisians must rise and shine and get themselves to work. Instead of yesterday’s grey clouds and rain drizzles, today is ushered in by sunshine and smog; the city starts to fade away in the light.
