I’m not sure why I had never thought of this before but water, in the wild at least, never really stops moving. I gaze out at the sea and though the air is calm, the water whirls in the nonexistent wind and shimmers in the low light. The tide ebbs and flows in a steady, soothing rhythm. And I think to myself that transience isn’t always bad. I can kiss the shore some place, explore a bit and then drift away with the next tide.
