on walking home in the rain

When we set off, the rain was only a suggestion
the gray clouds hugged the hills, but we felt
warm while we trudged on home.
as clouds are wont to do though, ours opened up and
let their load fall upon us
a drizzle steadily drifted into a downpour and
we walked along, two wet pals,
wandering our way through the rain.
